Yesterday, I logged out after getting a task from Rose to shoot a Yao Guai with a modified syringer. Today, I’m going to switch gears to pick up one of the Overseer’s logs in the nearby silo.
I play the log and it turns out the Overseer is none too happy about all the nuking going on the Wasteland. Back to Rose’s tasks, I shoot the Yao Guai with the syringer, which powers it up for about 30 seconds and then weakens it, allowing me to finish it off with my regular weapon.
Rose gives me yet another quest, this time to craft some explosive bait, but first I have to track down the materials. I go get the materials and make the bait and then use it to blow up a dog near the Wayward.
Since I’m at level 20 now and am in the area, I stop by Sutton to talk to the Overseer. As luck would have it, she wants me to go talk to Rose to try to draw the Raiders in.
I decide if I’m going back to Rose, I might as well finish up her tasks first, the next of which is to “make friends” with a Death Claw. I wasn’t quite sure what I needed to do with this one.
The first death claw I spotted was at the bottom of a cliff, so on the off chance that she just meant to kill it, I shot it with my sniper rifle from the mountainside until it died. However, that didn’t checkpoint the quest, so I had to go find another one.
Along the way, I spotted some Blood Eagles shooting at something I couldn’t see and like an idiot, I decided to take a shot at it. Turns out it was a level 75 Blue Devil.
I tried to run but got stuck on part of the Blood Eagles camp and the Blue Devil killed me in a matter of seconds. I respawned and started making my way back to the Death Claw location and ran across a Legendary Sheepsquatch.
This one was only a level 30, so I thought, maybe I could take it. I was wrong. My sniper rifle barely did any damage to it and I ended up running for my life.
I didn’t think I was going to make it, but some Super Mutants showed up and started shooting at it, which gave me enough time to get away. I take a few more steps and spot a scorch beast flapping its wings.
This time, I sneak away. I finally find the cave the Death Claw is in, but I came upon the opening at the top, instead of the entrance and while trying to figure out how to get in, I fell down the wall and died. The Wasteland is tough when you’re dumb.
I respawn and make my way back to the cave, this time managing to get in without dying. The Death Claw spawns and I use the “make friends” dialog option, which prompts Rose to come on the radio to laugh at me and then tell me to either kill it or run away.
I kill it and Rose gives me another task, this one is to steal from a Super Mutant camp. I make my way to their camp, take out some Super Mutants and turrets and steal something and now Rose wants me to kill a feral ghoul.
I travel to the nearest pack and kill them off and then get the option to equip the cannibalism perk and eat one and I do, because sometimes a fella’s gotta eat a fella. I pick up a broadcast from the Blood Eagles and take on the Ally: Narrow Escape quest to rescue a guy named Beckett.
I get to the Blood Eagles camp and use up my entire stash of healing items fighting my way in. I find Beckett in a cell and he tells me where I can find the key to let him out.
Once I free him, he wants me to go find his stuff, which includes the plans to build a bar. I go buy some more stimpaks and then head to yet another Blood Eagle camp. This one wasn’t quite as hard to fight my way into, but I did run into a legendary that gave me some grief.
I got Beckett’s stuff for him and agreed to let him set up his bar at my C.A.M.P. Beckett then asked me to help him remove the Blood Eagle leaders from Appalachia.
Instead, I decided to return to Rose and talk to her about the Raiders. She comes up with a plan to get their leader, Meg’s, attention by stealing this guy named David’s old Raider trophy.
I grab the trophy and then switch gears to Whitespring Refuge. There, I find out the Responders have taken over and are setting up their base there and they want me to do them some favors in order to gain access to their vertibird.
First, I finish a miscellaneous quest by collecting 7 holotapes from around the area. Then I check the job board for jobs to do in Atlantic City.
I pick up a daily quest that involves donating supplies to the Refuge, read a nightclub advertisement, help make some stew, and pick up another daily quest involving the refuge before returning to Rose’s quest.
I now need to find Rosalynn’s memorial and search for the AI program David used to create Rose. Once I find the program, I have to travel to another location and find a password to a terminal to repair it.
To get the password, I have to fight a bloated glowing Agent Kensington. I take him down and get the password.
With the program repaired, I’m supposed to return to Rose, but it is time for me to quit, so I return to my shelter to dump some stuff, only to find that my stash is now full.
I start addressing the problem by scrapping or selling all the armor and weapons that I don’t think I’ll use, but have been hoarding for “just in case.” Next, I decide to build an actual camp.
Until now, I’ve just been using my shelter because it is easy to move around. I don’t have a ton of options unlocked, but build myself a simple two-story wooden structure with a vending machine and some crafting stations, as well as the honeyhaus from Fasnaught and decorate it with a few displays and such.
I suppose from here on out, I’m going to have to focus on keeping only what I think I will use and selling the extra since I don’t really have the caps to buy a lot of plans and such to make my camp nicer. Also, since it was the 4th of July holiday, I decided to take the day off from my usual routine and play a bit of extra Fallout.
As a result, I ran about five Fasnauchts and managed to collect a glowing Scorchbeast Queen mask. Tomorrow, I will head back to Rose or do whatever quest is closest to my current location.
