Yesterday, I logged out after completing a daily quest to retrieve some Mothman cult artifacts. Today, I’m on my way to the Wayward.
I walk in on a gunman trying to shake down the barkeep for some information about Crane’s treasure. When I ask what is going on, he turns his gun on me.
I try to reason with him, but that doesn’t work, so I shoot him in the face. Once he is dead, I speak to Duchess, the owner of the bar.
She tells me that this gang has been harassing her over this treasure of Crane’s. I offer to help her out and she comes up with a plan for me to impersonate Crane and lure the gang into giving up the location of their leader.
She also gives me a holotape the Overseer left behind and tells me she left a C.A.M.P. across the road for her people to use. I stop by the Overseer’s C.A.M.P., pick up some supplies, and use her workbench to craft a weapon.
This starts a quest to track down traces of the Overseer around the Wasteland, the first location of which is in a town called Flatwood. I find another log from the Overseer, where she describes encountering the creatures the locals call Scorched.
I also pick up another quest to register as a Responders volunteer. After I register, I am given the task of locating Kesha McDermont who was on assignment to test the water from the river.
I find Kesha’s dead body by the river and acquire her water testing kit. While I’m there, the event quest “Fertile Soil” triggers.
To complete this quest, I must destroy the supervisor robots and then reprogram the Farmhands to quit attacking humans. Once I finish the event, I continue with the Responders’ quest.
My next tasks are to gather water samples from the river and the town water supply and test them at Kesha’s terminal. The analysis reveals the water is still contaminated and a holotape instructs me to boil it to make it safe.
I boil some water at the nearby chemistry station and then check in with the Responders’ terminal. It gives me another task, this time to find Delbert Winters in his home.
Unsurprisingly, Delbert is also dead. He was the town cook and my next task is to acquire some Brahmin meat and cook a ribeye steak.
I murder a cow and prepare some steaks at a cooking station in Flatwood. When I check in at the terminal again, I am granted volunteer status and given access to the Responders’ database.
My next task is to use the database to contact Responders’ HQ. I do so and receive an emergency message about a large number of Scorched closing in on the Morgantown Airport.
This initiates a quest to investigate the airport. However, I’m at a good stopping point, so I find a spot to set up camp and log out.
