Last time, I logged out after freeing Sage from the Mothman cult. Friday, I continued Beckett’s quests, with the next being to steal Edwin’s weapon cache key.
Obtaining the key involved climbing a forever-tall structure built in the trees and removing it from a chest. Once I delivered the key to Beckett, he of course had another task for me.
This time, he wanted me to kill Bronx, one of the Blood Eagle leaders. This task ended up being pretty easy, I think because I had already wiped out her gang when passing through this area previously.
I basically just walked up and shot her in the head. When I got back to my camp, Sage was there, but he didn’t provide any useful information.
My next job was to steal the Blood Eagle’s supply of Buffout, which I did and then Beckett wanted me to kill another leader named “The Blood.”
The Blood was a little harder to get to. I had to battle my way through some of their cronies, but I got them in the end.
Next, Beckett wanted me to find Edwin’s “dog.” This task was pretty easy. I found Edwin’s “dog,” which was actually a molerat, chained up outside a cabin and set it free.
I was then told to kill Star, the Blood Eagles’ mechanics expert. Like the other assassination tasks, this one involved taking out enough of the Blood Eagles around the camp to get to the target and then it was easy, because for whatever reason the actual targets never attempt to defend themselves or even seem to know you are there.
The next job was to rescue a Miss Nanny robot. This one was a bit tougher because there were some difficult robots guarding the location I had to travel to to free the robot.
When that was done, I returned to Beckett, who was in a panic because the Blood Eagles kidnapped his brother. He asked me to search The Eye’s lab for clues.
When I got back from searching the lab, Beckett still hadn’t found out where his brother was, but had uncovered a plot to poison the Settlers and asked me to steal the Blood Eagles’ supply of poison. Once I completed that task, he wanted me to kill “The Eye.”
Killing the The Eye went about like all the rest of the assassination missions. This unlocked Beckett’s final storyline mission.
I was to meet Beckett and his ally Ronny at the Watoga Underground to kill the Blood Eagle’s big boss “The Claw” and free Beckett’s brother Frankie. This was much more involved than the other Beckett missions.
The Watoga Underground was a pretty large area with lots of enemies in it, including some Assaultrons. I eventually battled my way through it, only to find out that “The Claw” was just a title they passed around, kind of like the Dread Pirate Roberts.
Turns out, Frankie wasn’t kidnapped. He joined the Blood Eagles in an attempt to follow in his brother’s footsteps and became The Claw.
I had the option to convince Beckett to kill his brother or save him. I chose saving him. Beckett finally got through to his brother and snapped him out of his drug-induced rage. This ended the main quests for Beckett and opened up some daily missions that I’ll leave for later.
Since I had met another ally along the way and you can only have one at a time, I set up the chair for the old man, but he seems to only give daily quests, so I decided to leave him for later as well. Next up, I started a side quest called Miner Miracles.
This quest involved finding and assembling a set of excavator power armor. I had already cleared out most of this area when I came in to free the Nanny bot, so it wasn’t too difficult, but I did have to side-track to find enough materials to build the full set of armor.
I had been getting rid of all the power armor I found because it takes up a lot of space in the stash and I don’t see myself playing as a power armor type with this character, but this set does have the benefit of providing a 100 carry weight boost, so I decided to hang on to it for when I need to clean out my stash.
Next, I returned to the Order of Mysteries missions, the next being developing the Voice of Set. This required recovering some data from an experimental weapons program.
This task involved taking on some more tough robots, including an assaultron with invisibility. Once I got the data, I returned to the manor and uploaded it to the Fabricator.
Once I had the Voice of Set, it was time to claim my promotion to Seeker of Mysteries. Now I needed to complete one final mission to become a Mistress of Mystery.
For this mission, I had to infiltrate the raider base at Pleasant Valley Ski Resort and learn how they knew so much about the Order of Mysteries. This mission involved a lot of fetch quests to get keys and passwords.
Eventually, I learned that Olivia Rivers, daughter of the Mistress of Mysteries, betrayed her mother to the raiders. I was given one final task to discover what became of the Order.
First I had to gain access to the head mistress’ office to find out where the meeting location with Olivia was. I discovered that Olivia left a message to meet her mother at Seneca Rocks.
Once there, I found mother and daughter dead and a holotape of the event. It seems Olivia had arranged for her Raiders boyfriend to hide and kill her mother when she showed up for the meeting, which he did.
However, he also shot Olivia. I then returned to the manor and used the headmistress’ login to promote myself to the rank of Mistress of Mysteries.
Next, I intended to find the Overseer’s journal in Sutton, but on my way there, I ran into a legendary Sheepsquatch and broke my main gun and used all the ammo on my secondary gun almost taking it down, before it despawned on me and I had to return to camp to fix my guns and restock my ammo.
Because they were running a mutations weekend, I had been doing mutated events throughout and one of them was in a location that opened up The Order of the Tadpole quest, so I took that on next. There are several tasks you must complete.
First, I cleaned up the waste at the Kiddie Corner Cabins, doing battle with several snallygasters in the process. Then, I had to gather various bug parts from Scout Leader Treadly so he could make some insect repellant.
That left two tasks, one is to revive an ally, which requires me to revive another player who has fallen. I’ve only had the chance to do this one time, so far, so it may take a bit.
The other is to earn Scout World Challenge Badges, by completing 3 of the Tadpole challenges from the challenge board. Since I had already met two of the requirements, I decided to take on the athlete challenge.
The first part was running an athletic course. At first, I just kept falling off things and having to start over, but I got the hang of it after I looked up how to put my gun away (hold down the X button if you’re using an Xbox controller).
But then I kept missing the final checkpoint. I finally figured it out and completed the course. My time was up, so I returned to camp and logged out.
Next, I will work on the other two athletic courses and then figure out where this knowledge test I’m supposed to do is.
